Pause interactive video at bookmarks without overlay or blurring
I am using Captivate 2019 with video. I wish the video to pause at specific point or bookmarks. However I do not want any overlay slide or video blurring. This is because the presentation is presenter-led and they require the video so stop at key points to impart additional information. When a button is clicked the video should resume.
I would be grateful for help on this topic
Lieve is correct but if you want an actual button to appear add a shape or an image on your slide that contains the video. Select Use as Button in the PROPERTIES Inspector. Using the TIMING panel set the duration of the shape or image used as a button to 1 sec and the Pause After to also 1 second. Then move the shape or image used as a button on the timeline to appear 1 second before you want the video to pause. Should look something like the attached image.
You inserted the video as slide video, which is the reason the Bookmarks and Overlay layers appear automatically. But if I understand your question correctly (pausing the video at certain points) I would use neither of them but use click boxes. Let me explain the workflow for pausing first at 25secs:
- Insert a click box at the start.
- Take out all feedback messages
- Use Timing panel to time it for 25secs
- Change the action to Continue.
For a second pause at 60 secs:
- Duplicate the first click box,
- Use the Timing panel to change start to 25secs ) and time it for 34 secs
For long videos there may be some slight issues with synchronisation, will need some testing.
Since it is meant to be used during a presentation, just clicking the slide is the easiest way. No need for a separate button.
