Is Captivate in YouTube fully interactive?

Hello, Captivate has caught my attention…. !!

So the question is: While I know you can publish your captivate project file to YouTube, does it mean that the YouTube video hosted with YouTube is interactive?

Like it would be a proper interactive learning resource more than just a mere video?

…I really hope so…!

My problems stem from the inability to integrate direct with other adobe products in creative cloud

Edit models in Dimension for example

using Adobe Aero its clear Captivate is being left out in the cold…..yes you can produce some simple 3d or augmented reality projects but far too simplistic I am now having to work in Unity

Its a shame as it showed great promise

A LMS is much more than just a portal for video. It is managing accounts, gradebooks, stores information for the use of the learners and their coaches.

YouTube has nothing of those features, and more important, there is no curation at all. Which means that there is a lot of crap and wrong, misleading information on YouTube.

The video platforms (YouTube, Vimeo) are only for PASSIVE video. You can publish a cptx project to a passive video (MP4) and upload to such a forum but that is all.

Interactivity needs always publishing to a webserver or a LMS (if you need to manage accounts, scores). That is the case for an interactive video and for a fully interactive project. Maybe have a look at my global introduction with some examples for Interactivity:

http://blog.lilybiri.com/interactivity-in-captivate-back-to-basics

You can find many examples on my blog of both interactive video and fully interactive projects. None of them could have been uploaded to YouTube.

Ok, thanks, I thought that would be the case as there’s obvious security issues with uploading html etc.

Adobe needs to get together with YouTube and close this gap though, as YouTube is a huge and rapidly growing LMS in its own right.

Thanks for your reply, and I’ll take a look at your content/link.

Hi Ian,

U Tube itself offers many of these features allowing you to make a video interactive.

Do a google search and you will see many suggests.

Yes you are right captivate needs to wake up many of the new technologies are moving on past what captivate offers.

You can also use many of Adobes other tools to make superb training materials. Indeed apart from its connection to LMS captivate is almost redundant

What is in a word? Meaning of ‘interactive video’ can be very different. Same with meaning of ‘interactivity’.

True,

But now with so many new technologies become accessible captivate is looking dated. Its a shame I have been a long term user but my customer base is now looking for far more than Captivate can give.

Examples please? What do you mean by ‘new technologies’ not used in Captivate as eLearning authoring tool?
