Captivate doesn’t recognise the End key when capturing a software simulation

H- this is driving me crazy, have spent hours trying to figure it out.

I am using a Dell XPS 13 with Windows 10 and Captivate 19, with two external monitors.  I run Captivate on one, and the software I’m capturing on a 2nd monitor.  I start the simulation, but then suddenly after a few captures the End key is no longer recognised.  I’ve reconfigured the End key to be Ctrl+X, that doesn’t work either, so it’s not the keyboard.  I’ve rebooted the laptop, closed Captivate, turned various monitors on and off, but to no avail.

The only thing that works consistently is if I turn the extra monitors off, and run everything off my laptop screen.  Then occasionally when I add back the monitors, the capture may work for a few times, but soon enough it again starts ignoring the End key.

Any help much appreciated – I’m tearing my hair out!

Kind regards, David

I really think you all should start making some of these as answers so Paul and Lieve get their points too!

Two things to be aware of:

  1. When capturing software simulation, the software you are trying to capture should always be on your primary monitor. It doesn’t work well or sometimes at all if the software is on the secondary monitor.
  2. A workaround is to click click on the Adobe Captivate icon in your taskbar to end a simulation. Over the years the inconsistency with the end key or any keyboard shortcut combination has led me to use this method as my primary method to end a simulation capture.
