Does Captivate 2019 have Flash still?

My Captivate 2019 projects are not working properly in our LMS (Workforce Connect), specifically the Learning Interactions for Accordion and Timeline, they say “Loading” for while, then screen goes white and narration will play, but the interactions don’t appear on the screen.   My IT department has told me that Captivate 2019 still uses Flash and until they remove all the Flash elements we will continue to have problems with the courses we design using Captivate 2019.  They are recommending we stop using Captivate.  Can you please confirm, does Captivate 2019 still use Flash?  When can we expect Captivate to be Flash free?

Not completely true what your IT people tell. The Learning interactions are made compatible with HTML5 output, although they were originally SWFs. Try uploading to SCORM Cloud to see if they are functional.

Another wrong assumption: since many versions Captivate has introduced and extended the possibility to publish to HTML5. Responsive projects have only HTML5 output possible. It is still possible to publish to SWF because many companies still are using old courses or LMSs which do require SWF output. I presume that in future versions the SWF output functionality will disappear.

Just FYI and for your IT people: it is the Flash PLAYER which will disappear. The application Flash, now renamed to Animate is still the main application for development of games, and you are for sure still playing those games. Animate also allows to publish to HTML5, a feature which I use often to create HTML5 animations.

Personally I have not published to SWF since the EOL of the Flash player was announced over 3 years ago. You don’t need a Flash free Captivate, you need the possibility to publish to HTML5. That output format exists since …. many years and versions. Please, tell your IT people the difference. Captivate’s HTML5 output is NOT playing in a wrapper (as is the case for some other authoring tools) but is native HTML5, just like a website.
