If anyone finds themselves here with this issue I have a solution which should work for you (I couldn’t find any patch for Captivate 4 to fix the bug). Go to Adobe’s page here https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html and scroll down to ‘Flash Player archives – Release and Content Debugger archives’, in the list of previous versions of flash get the one ‘(Released 9/9/2014) Flash Player 15.0.0.167 (Win IE only) (33.78 MB)’. Uninstall flash from your system and then reinstall this version. Adobe Captivate 4 should then launch for you. Bit of a pain but it should at least let you access your courses!

Hi Dan, I tried your steps and get an error:
(1) download file
(2) closed explorer
(3) uninstalled current flash player
(4) open downloads folder and extracted files to desktop folder
(5) 2 files inside: (a) 15_0_r0_167 and (b) 15_0_r0_167_debug
(6) didn’t know which one to start with so did (a) first and then (b) picking the .exe for both. Both give error: “The version of Adobe Flash Player that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit the Player Download Center to obtain the latest, most secure version.”

so I found another article that says just using the add/remove programs

isn’t good enough to uninstall and that you have to use an adobe uninstaller. did this:

(1) went to: and downloaded.
(2) moved download file to my desktop folder
(3) closed all explorer instances (I have both IE8 and Chrome)
(4) ran the uninstall_flash_player.exe
(5) it did the same look as the add/remove programs and said just like before that it removed.
(6) pressing on, i ran the (a) 15_0_r0_167 to see if it would install (and selected to NOT update versions) – AND IT INSTALLED! I’m actually IN!!

Thanks for your initial advice Dan. Hope this final step helps others. ♥

I get taken to a subscription page when I click the link. I paid a lot of money of Adobe Captivate. Any updates should be free. You should not be shaking down your customers for a few extra dollars. It makes you look bad.
